Dr. Clark Philogene Award

Drs. Nereida Diaz-Johnson and Clark Philogene of Union, Medical Group have each been ranked among the top physicians in the nation, based on patient reviews.

A select few physicians were honored with the prestigious 2013 Patients' Choice Award and this year they include Dr. Nereida Diaz-Johnson.

Only doctors who have received top scores by their patients and pass other quality measures are awarded the award. Of the nation's 720,000 active physicians, just 5 percent were accorded this honor in 2013.

Cervical Cancer Awareness & Prevention
Cervical cancer is preventable because screening tests and a vaccine to prevent HPV infections are widely available. When cervical cancer is found early, it is highly treatable and associated with long survival and good quality of life.

Screening Tests
Two tests can help prevent cervical cancer:

The Pap test (or Pap smear) looks for precancers, cell changes on the cervix that might become cervical cancer if they are not treated appropriately.

The HPV test looks for the virus that can cause these cell changes. The most important thing you can do to avoid getting cervical cancer is to have regular screening tests.

For more comprehensive information on Cervical Cancer, talk to your doctor. You may also visit the CDC's, web page by clicking here.

A simple flu shot provided by your doctor can go a long way to shielding you and your family from unnecessary sickness. A flu shot is quick, inexpensive and relatively painless. A vaccine for pneumonia is also available.

And ask if you woud benefit from the "T-dap" vaccine, fordiptheria, tetanus and pertussis.
